Survivor visits to the Omarska mine complex
For the past few years, survivors have travelled from around all over the world to visit the site of their incarceration in Omarksa camp, braving Serbian official obstructionism and personal intimidation to do so.
In 2005, mine officials tried to prevent them from touring the offices where many were "interrogated" and when they entered one of the main engineering buildings, where various well-documented acts of torture took place including forcing people to drink engine oil from sumps until they died, Serbian workers turned their machinery up full blast and tried to scare off the visitors.
After leaving the mine complex, a group of Serb civilians attacked the visitors, leaving several badly beaten.
